Privacy is a very key aspect of the SocialAir membership. Clearly, privacy is a premium benefit in air travel, as evidenced by the 4x to 10x price increase for true ‘private’ jet travel. As a ‘semi-private’ airline, SocialAir obviously doesn’t reserve entire aircraft for individual flights. However, there are privacy controls that allow members to manage their privacy level to a degree.
Incognito Status
One key feature is the incognito feature. Members can simply set their social status to ‘incognito’ and their contact information will be supressed, including head shot photo, contact information, social network profiles and travel plans. Of course, access to this information can be controlled at a granular level. In fact, Members will be able to create an unlimited number of relationship types and restrict any piece of information to any given relationship group.
Travel Mode
Members will be able to identify their ‘mode’ of travel for any given trip to settings such as:
- Leisure travel – open to conversation (e.g. family on a vacation)
- Leisure travel – prefer privacy (e.g. couple on honeymoon)
- Business – open to networking (e.g. entrepreneur who is open to making deals)
- Business – working (e.g. a team that will be having an on board meeting)
- Private (someone travelling alone who wants to just work on their computer)
Members will be routinely encouraged and reminded to follow SocialAir Etiquette and not attempt to engage with someone who as indicated they do not want to engage. All Members can see each other’s travel mode through the Member Portal adherence to this policy will be a simple matter.
Seat Selection
Members will be able to choose their seating before each flight on a first come first serve basis. Since most medium and heavy jets have seating configurations that orient some seats away from the others, members desiring privacy will naturally gravitate to these seats while Members who want a more social experience will gravitate to the seats that face each other. At some point, we may implement a ‘seat suggestion’ system based on their Members’ travel mode.
When they see someone on their flight who has indicated that they prefer to be private, SocialAir Etiquette will
