Social Profile

Unlike both private and commercial travel, Social Air semi-private travel lends itself to social networking. First, the very nature of the aircraft dictate that Members will be confined in a small area for a few to several hours at a time–an inherently social environment. Second, it is an elite group of people–those who can afford to spend a premium on air travel, so it is a valuable social network as well. Third, all Members have at least one thing in common–they saw fit to join this semi-private travel network. So it makes sense to facilitate or mediate social interactions.

Members will be able to update their social profile from within the Members Portal, including:

  • Basic contact information
  • Social network links (LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
  • Personal and professional websites
  • Discussions within the Members Portal
  • Interests, skills, etc.
  • Sociability preferences (prefer to fly private, business networking, making friends, etc.)

Privacy Settings

They will of course have the ability to control their privacy settings. If a Member prefers not to have their social profiles, contact information, or even their name kept private, they just need to check that box. Other members will be instructed to not bother people who opt to travel incognito.

But Members will be able to selectively reveal any part of their profile information to any other given Member. Thus, all Members have fine-grain control over exposure of their personal information to other Members.

With this arrangement, Members will actually be able to see the profiles of other Members on their flight (subject to those Members privacy settings) so they can be prepared to have productive conversations in flight. They can send them messages directly through the Members Portal do initiate the conversation before the flight. If a Member is marked as ‘Incognito’, the other Members will know not to try and engage that person in conversation.

Seat Selection

Members will be able to select their seats in advance of their flight, so Members wanting more privacy can select seats that face away from other passengers, and Members with something to discuss can ensure they are facing each other. Selecting a set will be as easy as looking at the aircraft they’ll be flying on and clicking the seat they want. If they want to discuss seating arrangements with other passengers, they can do so easily through the Member Portal.
