With a name like Social Air, it should be no surprise that social media will play a key role in promoting the membership. The websites will be designed from the ground up to integrate social media and to incentivize the sharing and promotion of Social Air by existing Members.
Status, Discussions and Blogs
The Members Portal will be designed with a social orientation to encourage Members to share and engage with each other. Each Member will be provided with a mini-blog in which they can write their accounts of their travels on Social Air. In their blogs, Members can discuss the process of travelling on Social Air, their interactions with other Members, their experiences at their destinations, or whatever they like. There will will also be a discussion forum in which Members can ask questions, give advice or otherwise discuss topics related to travel on Social Air. Members will also be able to set their status in Social Air, or simply sync it to their Facebook status. Systems will be set up to prompt and encourage Members to participate in these social forums. These systems can include automatic prompts built into the website as well as personal contacts by Social Air staff focused on Member relations.
Like/Tweet/Share/Pin Icons
Like, tweet, pin and share icons will be placed prominently on the public site as well as the Members portal to allow Members to promote Social Air through their networks. In addition to simply including the icons within the header of the main template, these icons can also be associated with specific pages/functionality of the site. For example, Members can like another Member’s blog post, pin a photo of a jet they just flew on, or share a photo they just uploaded into the system of them boarding the jet.
Incentives
Social promotion will be incentivized primarily through the Rewards Game Layer, as Members will be able to increase their Rewards Factor by sharing. However, we can also through miscellaneous random incentives to promote sharing. For example, Members can earn perks such as free meals on jets, massages, golf games, hotel rooms, etc. by winning a contest for the most shares in a given week, for example.
Social Media Tracking Tools
In order to incentivize social promotion we will need to track Members social activity. There are numerous tools on the market that can help us accomplish this. Social Media Today provides a list of 50 such tools. We will need to research available tools and find the ones that most efficiently allow us to harvest data upon which we can base incentives. Ultimately, it will probably make sense to integrate directly with the social media sites through their APIs in order to incorporate social activity data directly into our native environment. For example, the Facebook Social Graph makes all the data we would bee available through the API. Most of the social tracking tools gather their data through these APIs. Whether we integrate existing tools or develop our own integration is to be determined at this point, but either way we will focus on being very aware of our Members social promotion so we can reward them.
